Saturday 15th August was the Feast day for St Mary – and 4 of us went to Balmerino Abbey and sitting round one of the picnic tables near the main cross we celebrated the Eucharist – the consecrated elements passed to and from each other as we sat there – birds singing, the wind caressing the trees, the sun trying to shine. We were one with nature, we were one in receiving the Blessed Sacrament – and we prayed for and recalled the Cistercian monks who had done just this so many hundreds of years ago – (though what they would have made of 4 women sitting in their Chancel I don’t know!)
