Sunday 1st December: Advent

Join us in this Season of Advent, as we look forward in growing darkness to the birth of Christ, Light of the World.

If you are not used to going to church, there is no better time to start. If you don’t come regularly, no better time to reconnect. If you want to bring the family, but worry about the hassle, what better time to involve children than in the run up to Christmas, and let them know the real Christmas story!

Join us during our normal communion service, Sundays, 11-12 at St Mary’s Episcopal (Anglican) Church, Newport on Tay.

St Margaret of Scotland

On Sunday 17th of November, there is again no Sunday service at St Mary’s as we join our sister church in Tayport, St Margaret’s Episcopal Church, to mark their patronal festival.

The day starts at 9.30am: Iain Flett will give a talk in their hall about Wrecks of the Tay! Bacon rolls and coffee will be provided. Thereafter the Eucharist will begin at around 10.30am.

Please let Kathy know if you will be there (numbers required for bacon rolls!)

Remembrance Sunday – Ecumenical Service at 10:50

For Remembrance Sunday, this coming Sunday 10th of November, there is an ecumenical service at the Parish Church (Church of Scotland). No service at St Mary’s.

All are welcome! Please turn up at 10:50, to give time for a minute’s silence at 11.

At the end of the service there is a procession down to the war memorial for the laying of the wreaths.

St Francis’ Day 6 October – pet blessing!

In this season of creation, we think of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment, who considered the animals and world around him like brothers and sisters. On St Francis’ day, 6th October at 12, following the Sunday service, there is a blessing of pets to remember him. So even if you are not a regular church-goer, bring along your own animal companions, and have a special prayer said for their well-being.
