Mission

Mark 8 – Serve the community in practical ways: reaching out to others, especially those in need.

The Church chose this Mark of Mission and tries to live by it.  As Christians we are called to be outward looking, to reach out to others, to listen, to help those in need, and to live in the hope of Christ, offering that hope to others.  Also to remember the prayer we recite so freely that we should forgive as we expect to be forgiven.  Practically all this means looking out for needs in the community and in the wider world and offering help and a listening ear where it is most needed.  Sometimes silent witness is the best method and all is held up by prayer.  This is the Gospel.  This is what Jesus was about in his ministry.  Part of our outreach has been to the various Care Homes in Newport, including St Serf’s, which has a small chapel space, to the Ranger Guides,  and also the food basket for the Trussell Trust

Some needs are not seen as people might not want to be a nuisance – we are very happy to be of service and please contact us if you hear or know of need in the community of Newport, Wormit, Gauldry and Balmerino.  The Gospel is preached when it is lived.  Our Mission prayer is

Gracious Spirit, Holy Wisdom
Guard and guide us
Help us to live in faith
hope and trust
To listen, to act and to
Glorify God’s Holy Name
Through Christ our Lord
